1 Week No Social Media | Lifestyle

Last week I shared that I would be off of social media for the whole month of June. I just need to know what in the world does a person with a smartphone do without social media?! Like the phone is boring, honestly. The introvert in me loves that no one can reach me, and I’m out of the loop of what’s going on in the social media world.

Challenges. When I go places , cute , face beat of course I want to take a selfie. I want to take pictures of my food, or the scenery. Now I still do all of the above I just don’t post it anywhere. So you’re probably asking me why I’m doing this. It’s simply a self  cleanse. Snapchat is my favorite social media, the filters, the fact the photos disappear in 24 hours. Being a blogger I have to use social media to promote my blog , my YouTube channel, etc.

The Pros. I have more time to write. I can make it a point to write once a day about anything that’s on my mind even if it’s not a potential blog post. Practice what you preach, just because something doesn’t make it to social media doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

In continuation of what I discussed last week , I wanted to clarify a few things. I mentioned I’ve erased my phone book, deleted all social media applications on my phone , unfollowed a few people, blocked a few people. I didn’t go through a bad break up, I’m not mad at anyone, I’m not going through a life crisis. Sometimes you just have to disappear, cut people off with no explanation and that’s okay.

Sometimes you have to stop being available to people, you have to no longer be that go to person for people to lean on, depend on. You should always put yourself first, your happiness should be the priority. Too often we go through things in life and feel bad for decisions we made or we feel obligated to do certain things.

For me, the month of  June means new beginnings, new adventures. Trying out this thing called being carefree. I am still active in the gym I am just choosing not to share videos or progress photos, I am doing a new 30 day diet which is simply a low sugar diet. Which for me is very hard because I can’t have yogurt, and that is typically a good snack to have. The only sugar I can eat is fruit, this also means no complete cookie. I also will not hop on the scale as I did a lot last month and that was a distraction. My trainer noted that I did gain more muscle especially in the thigh area which is always a good thing.
