Monday Motivation: It’s Okay To Be Selfish

We all have obligations, taking care of your family to fulfilling your role in your career. We all have responsibilities as an adult but they shouldn’t deprive you of peace of mind.

Today’s Monday Motivation is not feeling bad for being selfish sometimes or when it comes to certain situations. You have to take care of yourself before you can be a muscle for someone else.

Me time. One day out of the week dedicate a full day to yourself. You don’t have to go anywhere , you don’t have to spend money. Just relax. You can turn your phone off if you feel that’s a main cause of distraction. Binge watch your favorite TV show, prepare for the work week. Do something that brings you serenity.


Put yourself first. If you have goals that you want to achieve but you’re helping others achieve their own and it’s weighing down on you, stop. If you’re spending majority of your time helping them achieve their goals and little to no time to achieve your own, step back and re-evaluate your time management. This isn’t to say quit your 9-5 but this is for those helping friends but your more passionate about their goal than them.


Say No. The word no is a complete sentence. Using the word no doesn’t have to have an explanation follow. There are 24 hours in a day, of course you want to take advantage of opportunities presented to you but don’t drain yourself by over extended yourself to people.


Don’t be a crutch. Everyone depends on you but you have no one to depend on. Not to say you do things to get something out of it. But even if it’s just venting, you should have 1 person to go to with no hesitation. Hold people accountable for their actions. People will only do what you allow. Don’t feel guilty for no longer being that person’s crutch , they have to walk on their own.
