For the month of January I am doing a no product buy for 31 days which means, I will not purchase any hair products or makeup products. I received new products to try from the Aunt Jackies Curls and Coils line and it was just in time for wash day. I went almost three weeks without washing my hair and simply stretching hairstyles without much manipulation to my hair.
I showed a quick tutorial on my Instastory but I will do a full tutorial on my YouTube channel this weekend. It has been some time since I tried new products and did a full review. I have been wanting to try the Aunt Jackies Flaxseed Elongating Gel since I seen it on Amazon and also a few influencers reviewed the product on YouTube. When I seen the products were available at Target I knew it was going to be the first products I purchased next month.
Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Hair Masque – I have used the whole Coconut & Hibiscus line since I did my first big chop in 2013 and I just love the products. I love how it leaves my hair soft and moisturized and not to mention my curls are always defined. This hair masque I left in my hair for about 15 minutes. The directions state you can leave in for 30 minutes while sitting under a dryer.
Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Leave – In Treatment – I sprayed this all over damp hair and I love the smell. I have not used hair products from this specific line except the coconut oil and the Milk Mask for your face.
Aunt Jackies Curls and Coils Knot On My Watch Instant Detangling Therapy – I sectioned my hair into small sections and I took my time detangling my hair with a wide tooth comb. It was great slip , it smells good and a little product goes a long with its thick consistency.
Aunt Jackies Curls and Coils Curl La La Defining Curl Custard – This reminds me of a yogurt. Most custards I have seen looks like a gel but this is more of a moisturizing tint. I loved how it defined my curls before I even used a gel product. See picture below.
Aunt Jackies Curls and Coils Don’t Shrink Flaxseed Elongating Curling Gel – First, my hair definitely shrunk, as it always does once my hair fully dries. I always air dry my hair so that it doesn’t have any frizz. I also do not use any tools as far as a Denman brush to disturb my curl pattern. I rake the product through with my fingers. My curls are defined with this product but I can see it did not hold up to the hype. I would use the Eco-styler black castor flaxseed gel over this product.
Pictured above is my hair half way dried. I think picked out my hair for more volume. Here is the final picture:
This is my hair with the Eco Style Black Castor Flaxseed Gel
There is a difference with definition. I always air dry as well. Let me know if you’ve tried these products and also stay tuned for a hair tutorial this weekend!
