Wednesday Brunch: 5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Approaching Your Crush

People say all the time two people of the opposite sex can’t be friends without someone becoming attracted towards the other or catching feelings. We can agree to disagree on that but what if you do catch feelings for your Male friend or your female friend how do you go about it?
Are you willing to possibly tarnish the friendship? They say the best relationships come from being friends first. But just because you’re very good friends doesn’t mean it will be a great relationship if you both take it to another level. If things don’t work out this could turn a good friendship into something that would never be the same.

Can you handle rejection? What if you tell this close friend how you really feel about them, whether it’s that you want to explore dating with them or even just to tell them how much you like them more than a friend. Can you handle it if the feelings aren’t mutual? You can’t fault a person for how they feel only thing you can do is be honest and accept their honesty.

What do you hope to gain from this? When you decide that you want to pour your heart out to this person and just maybe they feel the same way, do you want a relationship? Do you want to be friends with benefits? You need to know what it is you want from the beginning.

Can you accept the baggage/flaws that they come with? No one is perfect , including you. Whether this person may have kids, unstable career, bad credit, always late when it comes to plans, they can’t cook, ask yourself, can you accept this?

Is it infatuation ? Are you infatuated with the idea of this person or do you truly see the person that they are, not their potential. Often times we are blinded by looks and even how great of a person you see them becoming that you don’t realize the person that they truly are in this very moment. Have you seen them in a relationship? Just because they do all of these things while  their in a relationship, everyone is different and everyone will not be treated the same.

This isn’t to deter you from approaching your crush but it’s to give you reality. Things never play out the way you planned it in your head. Really think about if you’re willing to risk a good friendship to see if your  compatible with this person.
